This page is the hub for G+ campaigns, one-off workshops, and special reports that fall outside our core workstreams. Here you'll find initiatives that address emerging issues, spotlight industry best practices, or respond to specific safety challenges in offshore wind.
Manual Handling Campaign
In partnership with SafetyOn
Manual handling encompasses a wide range of incidents, with many crossovers and misconceptions. It is the leading cause of injuries in the wind industry, both on and offshore.
This video campaign aims to illustrate these incidents by suggesting good practice that's rooted in actual on-site experience and is reflective of all project phases for both the onshore and offshore wind industry.
FLiDAR Workshop
In partnership with IMCA and the Workboat Association
On the 20th of June 2025, the G+, IMCA and the Workboat Association came together in at workshop to consider the health and safety challenges of floating LiDAR buoy deployment, maintenance and recovery in the offshore wind industry. Attendees included representatives from the member companies of each organisation as well as LiDAR equipment manufacturers and survey providers. This was the first such collective gathering of the key parties involved in commissioning and delivering metocean campaigns for offshore wind project development.
G+ Confined Spaces in Floating Offshore Wind
On the 7th December 2023, the G+ held a virtual workshop on confined spaces in floating offshore wind. Floating OW designs include a higher number of confined spaces that need to be accessed offshore compared to fixed-bottom structures, where although work areas are often restricted, few are designated confined spaces.
G+ felt it was important to help raise awareness of this change in risk profile and the control measures necessary to safely access and work in confined spaces, but also to explore any unique aspects of confined spaces in floating offshore wind, the applicability of existing guidance and standards, and the need for any adjustments to better reflect the floating OW work environment.
Electrical Safe System of Work
In partnership with SafetyOn
SafetyOn and G+ have been working collaboratively to enhance safety protocols through the Safe System of Work (SSOW) workshops. The aim was to ensure a consistent and robust approach to safety that could be adopted globally across the wind industry. This report outlines the proceedings and findings from those workshops.
