Events
The coming year is set to be jam-packed for the Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation. Start planning for the following events:
Annual Stakeholder Forum
Building on the success of 2025’s Stakeholder Forum events, the organisation will be hosting the twelfth annual Stakeholder Forum in London, Thursday 12 March 2026. This event is an opportunity to hear about current G+ workstreams, learn about the latest safety initiatives, and explore the G+ incident data. Guest speakers will share insights on applying health and safety requirements through the supply chain, showcasing safety innovation on projects, and promoting cross-industry learning, complemented by regulator insight. The Forum will be preceded by an evening networking reception on Wednesday 11 March. This event is targeted at anyone working in the offshore wind industry, from suppliers, OEMs, academics, regulators, developers and operators. If you’re passionate about offshore wind health and safety, this event is for you - register here!
Japan Forum
In recognition of the global breadth of the organisation, the G+ will also be hosting a regional specific event in Japan, Wednesday 1 July 2026. G+ will convene a half-day Japan Stakeholder Forum in conjunction with the WFO APAC Summit. The session will provide an opportunity for developers, industry partners, and stakeholders to exchange perspectives on offshore wind H&S priorities in Japan, and to continue dialogue on how international experience can be meaningfully reflected in local contexts.
Foundation Fabrication Workshop
Improve Safety in Offshore Wind Fabrication – Learning from normal work
Following the success of the first fabrication workshop held last September in Incheon, this full-day workshop will be hosted in London, UK, on Tuesday 10 March 2026. Facilitated again by Psychology Applied, experts in steel fabrication will gather to share their safety learnings from recent projects and provide practical approaches to designing for safer fabrication. The engaging presentations will be followed by the workshop, with opportunity for questions and discussion so that together, we can make the industry safer.
Targeted towards Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Construction Managers, HSE Managers or Fabrication Managers for Fabricators and Developers, contact the G+ ([email protected]) for information on registering for this event.
Workstreams
As we move into 2026, our focus will centre on the critical areas, listed below, to strengthen safety and collaboration across the industry.
- Developing guidance on welfare provision and first aid and medical needs assessment
- Revising the Working at Height GPG to reflect the latest standards and insights.
- Continuing the Fabrication Safety Collaboration Forum to drive best practice and innovation.
- Advancing our data programme, exploring new metrics on injury severity, causality, health and leading indicators.
- Expanding our global presence, building on growth in Asia-Pacific and the Americas regions.
Here’s some more detail on the new workstreams for 2026.
OW2606 GPG review for revisions – Working at Height
This workstream will focus on reviewing the G+ Working at Height GPG. The review will consider recent G+ incident statistics, updated international regulations and standards, and new publications since the current edition. Based on these findings, we will develop an updated version of the GPG along with the corresponding self-assessment tool. These updates will ensure both resources remain fit for purpose and continue to support the industry in improving H&S performance. H&S performance.
OW2607 First aid and medical needs assessment in offshore wind
This workstream will begin by exploring whether a global industry guidance approach is the best way to meet UK HSE expectations following recent inspection findings. If a global approach is not optimal, it will identify and agree on the most effective alternative. In the second stage, the workstream will develop the necessary materials to support the chosen approach, ensuring robust and practical guidance for the industry.
OW2608 Walk to work
This workstream follows the progress of the actions identified in the walk-to-work workshop report. Hosted in partnership with IMCA, this workshop developed steps to improve the safety of transferring to and from offshore WTGs via motion-compensated gangways. It involves reviewing recent incidents and looking at the required industry changes. Some actions involve other industry organisations, such as the GWO, Carbon Trust and IMCA.
OW2609 Coordinated Offshore Wind Emergency Response Framework in APAC
This workstream aims to close gaps in emergency response across the Asia-Pacific region. The focus will be on raising awareness of existing challenges, identifying opportunities for greater alignment and best practice, and exploring the development of a region-wide coordination mechanism to enhance safety and preparedness.
OW2610 Implementation G+ Lifting framework in APAC
A recent review has highlighted the lack of domestic offshore lifting regulations in several APAC markets. To address these gaps, we are proposing a broader APAC implementation effort through the development of an APAC-specific annex to the lifting operations document. To close regulatory gaps, Stage 2 will deliver an APAC annex for lifting guidance, bringing consistency and practical solution to the region.
OW2611 Fabrication Safety Collaboration Forum – year 2
In 2026, G+ will continue to administer the Forum with several key objectives:
- Establish governance and agree on a sustainable future funding mechanism.
- Develop an appropriate framework and supporting documents.
- Organise virtual events as well as an in-person event.
By the end of the year, the Forum is expected to transition to a self-funded model, ensuring its long-term sustainability and continued impact on fabrication safety.
OW2605 GPG programme maintenance and implementation
To keep our GPG portfolio relevant and effective, we’re introducing a structured review and maintenance process. This will ensure all guidance remains current and fit for purpose. The process will draw on a range of inputs, including the EI document review process, G+ incident statistics, industry data, emerging developments, updates to cross-references, changes in international regulations and protocols, and feedback from self-assessments.
