Catching up with Jeonghyun Ye, the new APAC Chair
As the previous Focal Group Chair, Kelly-Ann Ee, finished her term, the previous Focal Group Vice Chair and Lead for the Korea Chapter- Jeonghyun Ye, continues the direction for the group to deepen G+ presence in the region. With the Korea Chapter up and operating for some time and the continuing efforts in Taiwan and Japan, Jeonghyun shared with us the group's progress during the first half of the year.

I’m delighted to be appointed G+ APAC Focal Group Chair. Health and safety are essential to the continuing growth of the offshore wind business and the successful implementation of the project, especially in APAC. There are still many areas and challenges that we need to work on to make a safer workplace, and I am passionate about contributing to this industry's efforts to keep our people safe.
Fabrication safety in Korea
We saw several severe incidents in some major fabrication yards in Korea earlier this year, which is an alarming sign of safety concerns, especially the safety of the workers. With the support of the G+ Board, I’m pleased to see the opportunity for the Steel Fabrication workstream to go global.
In June, we hold a networking event in Busan, inviting these key fabricators for an introduction to the G+ and Steel Fabrication workstream. Though it was a small event, we’re happy that some fabricators are interested in learning more about G+ and our work. We plan to carry out more in-depth discussions with them in the next few months, and it would be interesting to see how G+ could support the discussion on yard safety either by establishing an industrial network with the fabricators or separately.
Prospects for the group in the region
The group's focus varies from country to country, but I think it’s safe to say we all aim to improve the industry's safety performance in the region. Following this, I hope to focus on expanding our engagement with various stakeholders and identify their needs and expectations, especially from the contractor side, delivering initiatives strategically to optimise the region, and promoting health and safety in offshore wind. I find this crucial to the company and the projects during my days in the industry. I look forward to representing the APAC Focal Group and building this journey together.
