Preliminary information on OEI Act regulatory framework now available
The Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR) has released a suite of preliminary information materials to build understanding of the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure (OEI) Act regulatory framework.
These materials are based on the Exposure Draft OEI Amendment Regulations 2024 released by the Department of Climate Chage, Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and are intended to provide stakeholders with early-stage information on:
- management plans
- work health and safety under the OEI Act framework
- the design notification scheme
- safety and protection zones
- financial security.
These documents are draft only and will be amended to align with any regulatory changes progressed by the Department following the consultation process. To read the documents visit our Preliminary Information webpage.
As soon as the final regulations take effect, the OIR will publish information and guidance materials to clarify and build further stakeholder understanding of regulatory requirements.
The OIR looks forward to engaging with stakeholders as we move toward operational regulation of the offshore renewables sector.
