2025, a huge year for the industry and a year of growth for the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health & Safety organisation. We reflected on the year with pride and recapped our various achievements…
A year in numbers
2025 was a year of progress and collaboration for our OEMs, with Vestas upgrading to Full Membership and Ming Yang joining as Associates. Our LinkedIn presence soared, reaching an incredible 10k followers as we welcomed over 1000 new followers, in 2025, on the platform!
Looking at our publications, the Offshore Wind Farm Transfer GPG led the way as our most downloaded resource, with over 66% more downloads than any other publication. Coming in second was the G+ Lifesaving Rules for the Offshore Wind Industry, evidently a well-received resource following their launch in November 2024. While the number of onshore civils related incidents remain a concern, downloads for the GPG were minimal. In 2026, the organisation will be actively promoting this guidance to help make the industry safer for everyone.
A year of events
Annual Stakeholder Forum
A highlight of the year was hosting the 2025 Stakeholder Forum in Incheon, South Korea. This was the first time the main Forum has been held outside of Europe, reflecting the global growth of the G+. This annual Forum was attended by 70 participants from across the industry. The day featured 6 themed sessions filled with practical experiences and initiatives that highlighted how global standards can be adapted to local contexts.

Alongside the forum, the G+ hosted 3 successful ancillary events:
- Electrical Safety workshop
- Foundation Fabrication workshop
- Regulator session, welcoming KOSHA (Korea) and the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (Australia)
Americas Forum and European Webinar
In support of the main Forum, these regional predecessor events were well-received. A hybrid event, the Americas Forum welcomed over 60 attendees in-person in Providence, Rhode Island, back in January 2025. This event was hosted at the Oceantic O&M / H&S Summit, of which the G+ were an official sponsor, a collaboration echoing the core theme throughout the Forum.
For Europe, in March, a webinar was hosted, titled ‘Health and safety at the interfaces - vessel operations in an expanding offshore wind industry.’ G+ teamed up with IMCA to discuss how developers and vessel operators can jointly tackle the many interfaces between teams, hardware, software, processes and cultures to ensure safe outcomes.
Missed the webinar? You can watch it here and find the slide deck on our website.
Wider activities
The G+ has been busy hosting events and presenting at others.
In September, Lifting Safety Week was held in collaboration with SafetyOn. This event shared crucial resources including case studies, lifting guidance, Toolbox incidents and a workshop support. The aim was to provide implementable and useful references to improve lifting safety. Find all the resources on the G+ website.
Spotted the G+ elsewhere? The G+ has been busy all over the world. Here is just a selection of the events the G+ has been invited to:
- vgbe Medical Seminar, Germany.
- International Regulator's Forum Offshore Renewables Subgroup (IRFORES), Newfoundland, Canada.
- China Academy of Engineering and Royal Academy Offshore Wind Seminar, supported by China Southern Power Grid and Ming Yang (G+ Associate member).
- WFO Asia Pacific Summit, Tokyo, Japan.
- RenewableUK GOW 2025, London, UK.
- Amplemann W2W seminar, Rotterdam, Holland.
A year of projects
The G+ organisation completed all 9 standalone workstreams, in preparation for a new year of new projects. Look out for the following publications and campaigns:
- OW2208 – Manual Handling Campaign
- In collaboration with SafetyOn, the 4-part video campaign utilised on-site experience and reflected all phases of on and offshore projects.
- OW2209 – Lifting Framework “EI 3584 Governance of mechanical lifting operations in the offshore wind industry GPG”
- “Lifting Operations”, a work process consistently in the top 5 for high potential incidents (G+ Incident Data). It aims to share, advance and encourage good practice in managing lifting operations, specifically by providing guidelines for effective governance.
- OW2406 – Study on Welfare (Phase 1)
- This project aimed to explore current welfare practices, the potential of retrofitting existing assets and incorporating welfare facilities in the design of new WTGs. The findings delivered in the final report will be used to inform Phase 2.
- Due for publication early 2026
- OW2412 – Implementation of GPGs
- This workstream developed self-assessment tools for selected, existing G+ GPGs, generating a template to use for future guidance.
- OW2310 – Vessel Safety Guide “Vessel management in offshore wind for new entrants and non-marine professionals”
- Providing an oversight of vessel management in offshore wind, it is specifically targeted at those new to the industry without a marine or vessel background.
- Due for publication early 2026
- OW2407 – Severe Weather Preparedness GPG
- Using existing and emerging industry guidance, the GPG recommends actions before, during and after severe weather events including lightning, extra-tropical storms, tropical cyclones, extreme heat and extreme cold.
- Due for publication early 2026
- OW2408 – Health and safety considerations for the deployment, maintenance and recovery of surveying buoys
- The ‘Safety Bulletin’ highlights the safety challenges in FLiDAR deployment and maintenance.
- OW2413 – Vessel/WTG Interaction “EI 3617 Managing the risk of moving, installed WTG blades striking a vessel GPG”
- This GPG addresses the risk of energised blades colliding with a vessel. It notes safe by design principles and robust procedures for vessel approach and WTG control - including clear responsibilities and communication.
- Due for publication early 2026
- OW2507 – OW Fabrication Safety Collaboration Forum Year 1
- In September 2025, Psychology Applied facilitated a workshop in Incheon, South Korea. It involved case studies from offshore wind fabrication and the tools of Learning from Normal Work to explore challenges to front-line workers, how human behaviour impacts decision-making, and the factors present every day that can lead to an incident.
